 Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (Widescreen Edition) $12.98 My son loved Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Event dvd. Seller delivered dvds on time and in excellent condition.Great sound and picture quality, too. Happy customer results in happy buyers.  The Lump of Coal $12.99 I saw the cover and thought "The Lump of Coal" looked offbeat and funny. The book was offbeat, but not in a funny way. Is this book supposed to be funny for kids or adults? Sadly, I think it misses the mark on both counts. It's too sophisticated for kids, but not sophisticated enough for adults. It had a very slow plot for a childrens' book, and Snicket's explaining every other word was annoying. He does the same thing in his Unfortunate Events Series. I was expecting a delightful tale and got a lesson in vocabulary instead. Mr. Helquist's illustrations were the few bright spots in the book.  The Latke Who Couldn't Stop Screaming: A Christmas Story $11.00 I wanted to teach my children about Hanukah and Christmas, but this book did not live up to its potential. It began cute, but proceeded to be choppy and uninteresting. I don't recommend it.  The Situation Worsens: A Box of Unfortunate Events, Books 4-6 (The Miserable Mill; The Austere Academy; The Ersatz Elevator) $38.99 Great box set. I bought it for my 15 yr old stepdaughter for Christmas and she was thrilled!!! |
