 Black Leighton Platinum Kyoto Flyer Stick Umbrella $54.00 This is my favorite umbrella (I have it in green). I almost didn't buy it because of the price, but it was well worth it. I purchased it just before a summer of record-breaking rain in Oklahoma, where it is also quite windy. This umbrella never even threatens to turn inside out, due at least in part to its 16 ribs (most umbrellas have 8). The 16 ribs also help make it the most handsome umbrella around; sometimes I open it up even just in light drizzle when I normally wouldn't bother, just so other people can enjoy my umbrella too (and they do-- I got a lot of comments and envious glances). One thing some people may not like about this umbrella is that it even when it's folded up, the main stick doesn't collapse. It's definitely not a hide-in-your-purse/glovebox umbrella. This has never bothered me though; I just slip the handle through the carry loop on my backpack or over my arm. The nice shape of the handle is also handy for helping to hold the umbrella at various angles when the rain is falling about horizontally. In addition, it makes the umbrella easy to hang from the pipes in the ceiling of my office so it can dry out during the day, and then on the back of my chair once it's dry and folded up again. It's a great size for one person, but if you try to share, you'll probably each get a wet shoulder. In conclusion, this umbrella is great! I'd definitely give it as a gift or buy a new one if anything happened to my current one.  Edmund Leighton Accolade Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle $18.00 This 85 wooden jigsaw puzzle features a number of figurative whimsy pieces designed by Seattle artist Tara Flannery (click on the small image below the big image above to see example puzzle pieces). The picture was painted in 1901 by the British Romantic Edmund Leighton. All our puzzles are made of layers of hard and soft woods, and are roughly 1/4" thick. Packaged in a sheer organza drawstring pouch. Warning: puzzle pieces are a choking hazard for small children.  Killer Movie $9.99 I have been watching a lot of terrible horror movies lately, so I was hoping for something better here. The movie is ok. The budget appears to be larger than the movies I have been renting. I love Kaley Cuoco from the Big Bang Theory TV show and she doesn't disappoint here. The setting of North Dakota and the cast were all good. You won't be disappointed, but it isn't anything special. |
