I'm a big Krs-One fan, I believe that I have all of his albums and this one is ok, lyrically profound like always but I wish that some of the tracks the beats need to be kicking butlyrically he's there. He is the Teacher of Hip Hop. Continually On my brother, continually On.

I thought the book was great! The author draws some really great connections from the theories of Paulo Freire to modern day hip-hop. I recommend this for anyone going into the education field or someone just looking for some stimulating thought. I think it's vital that educators reach to today's students on levels that appeal to them and music is the way to go. This book gave me some great ideas for my classroom and you won't go wrong by adding it to your library.

I'd like to read this book, but my question is why does it cost 100 dollars? It seems like the people it was intended for will be the ones not able to read it.

First off....to everyone who complained that Puffy shouldn't have made a record with KRS-One, just remember back in 1997, hip hop and rap was changing into the bling bling period and I'm sure he had little say in working with Puff. But it happened and they made the remix to Step Into A World, now move the @#$% on already!!! Whether he was trying to sell out is anybody's guess but Jive probably wanted him to jump on the bling bling bangwagon.

Second, while "Just to Prove a Point" wasn't the best rap/rock combo track around, it proved that KRS wanted to be creative as well. To me, it was an okay track and it was too bad he didn't try making something like that in his albums after I Got Next (results could have been better.)

Now that I got that out of the way, I Got Next was a good album put out that didn't sound like rap during 1997. It sounded different enough to stand out and it really was a shame people slammed it for no good reason. KRS came out swinging with the lyrics and production was tight thanks to himself, Showbiz and DJ Muggs. For those who listened to the album immediately compared it to his past albums, which is not fair. Standout tracks include: I Got Next/Neva Hadda Gun,Can't Stop Won't Stop, A Friend, Step Into A World, Blowe and Real Hip Hop Part II. I would recommend it to anyone who is a real, hip hop fan. If you can get past him working with Puffy and lyrics while good but not like his previous albums, then you'll enjoy this one. This one's a 4 star album. Peace.
