![]() For the Roses $11.98 It's such a personal thing to even think about Joni Mitchell. All of her songs are so beautiful and we all have our favorites. This is one of her 4 or 5 greatest albums. I love this album and "Blue", "Ladies..." and "Court and Spark". My all-time favorite album by her is easily "Miles of Aisles" due to its enormous at-the-crossroads appeal. She had one foot in confessional folk tunes and one foot ready to jump into jazz. One great and overlooked thing about "For the Roses" - Joni, you never ever looked better than you do on the cover. A remarkably beautiful lady, to be sure. When I bought the original LP way back in the 70's, after getting past the cover photo, I was shocked to open up the cover and find a NUDE photo of Joni! Wow, she could have been a model. But then we would have missed all of that wonderful catalog of heartfelt songs...... ![]() Clouds $7.98 It had been years since I heard some of the songs on this CD. Her pure sweet sound brought back a rush of memories and is still as hauntingly beautiful as the first time I heard it. Especially love "Songs to Aging Children Come" ![]() Hits $18.98 As a boomer, Joni Mitchell has always held a fond place in my heart, and listening to this CD reminds me of why. From her folk songs like Woodstock, The Circle Game, and Both Sides Now, to her early pop songs like Chelsea Morning, Big Yellow Taxi, and You Turn Me On I'm a Radio, to the melancholy songs from Blue, to the campy pop songs like Raised on Robbery and Help Me, this CD is a smorgasbord of the types of music that has endeared Joni Mitchell to listeners over the years. There is not a weak track on the disc. Highly recommended. ![]() Will You Take Me As I Am: Joni Mitchell's Blue Period $24.99 Trying to pin down Joni Mitchell is a very tough project to tackle. Sometimes the book seems to wander but very few people have lives that follow a straight line and Joni's life certainly does not follow a straight line. There is some interesting information I was not aware of and I did enjoy reading about Joni's songwriting process. |
