I thought the selections provided a good mix between monologues,skits and guests..

In looking at the jacket, i knew what i was getting..the dvd was around 75 minutes long...3 episodes at a time when the Tonight show was 60 minutes...with commercials...made it known that the episodes would not be entire episodes...So based on that..not sure how anyone would NOT know what they were getting..

Given that, it gave a good slice of the times, with good highlights..

My favorites were the skits...especially the one with johnny,doc and ed singing the 12 days of Christmas....

The monologue gave a great idea of what was going on at the time..with a holiday spin..

I loved seeing all of the poinsetta's...that's what i remember the most about the tonight show during the holidays watching johnny.....

It was great..sitting back for 75 minutes and revisting johnny and the tonight show....seemed like good times all over again..ahhhhhhh

Johnny Carson was the King of Late night and this collection and the fuller box set takes you back when Late night on Carson meant everything to a career. this set has Gobel, Dean Martin and George Burns stopping on through. Carson just had that humor and connection with his guests and audience which is timeless. His Genius of timing and connecting is second to none even still. Classic Carson.

As a present for several out of town friends, this DVD ruined my best laid plans by every single DVD being defective. Amazon was amazingly unhelpful and though I am sure Johnny was wonderful-no one would ever know as none of DVDs played. Disappointing to say the least.

The book is well constructed and easy to follow. There are some excellent photos that will surely bring back memories for Carson's TONIGHT SHOW fans.
