How can you beat John Candy's comedic talent? What a loss to the world when he passed at such a young age. So wonderful to watch his movies where he continues to give us the gift of his talent and the opportunity for a good belly laugh.

Funny movie. We enjoy watching this DVD. We are campers and on rainy evenings when we can't sit around the campfire, we get no TV reception in the campgrounds,
so we have a lot of DVD's and this one was a welcome addition to our collection.

I like john candy. too bad hes not a live today. cuz i think movies need his type of humor. He plays this guy who is so stressed out at work, that his job gives him some much needed time off, so him and his family go to florida, where they get a nice rent house...but its not too long till stuff starts to go crazy. Its one of those movies where something always bad happens to the guy, but its funny. Even on his vacation he cant get much of a break.

His daughter is played by the red head chick thats in the goonies. And this one guy in the movie who gives their family trouble, played Col. Trotman from Rambo. Remember that? That guy. He plays stuck up jerk in this movie, but hes hilarious at it.

Its a predictable movie i guess, especially now since its the 21st century, but you dont watch this movie for the greatest plot, or dialog. Its got a few memorable moments that are just so funny. So i think if you family movies from the 80s, then i think you'll like it. Not to say that its a G rated comedy. Theres a scene where some random lady wants to get someones opinion about her recent boob job. Theres no nudity per say, but you know what i mean.
Its an 80s movie, so what else do you expect? lol

I gave it 3 stars cuz its not the best movie of its kind ever, but its one of those so-so movies that are a lot of fun to watch. John Candy in this movie reminds me of my uncle, so its extra funny for me.
I'd definatly buy this movie if i had the money!

I really enjoyed this movie, even though I'm not the biggest John Candy fan. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon when Saturday night is still keeping you from getting off the couch.

My only complaint is that I remember first seeing the movie on TV when I was visiting a friend in New York, and there was a hilarious scene that took place in the wine cellar, John Candy accidentally starts a machine that shoots clay pigeons all over the cellar and floods it with wine.

The scene must have been added to the TV broadcast to cover the bra scene being deleted, but was not part of the theatrical release and is not on the DVD. Which is weird, because if you watch the scene where they play footsie under the table at dinner, one of John Candy's pant legs is stained halfway up the shin with wine. With the deletion of the scene, that makes no sense.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Maybe if they ever release this movie in Blue Ray they will have the "director's cut" or some actual features added, like the deleted scenes.

Anyone else ever notice this? Or am I a complete continuity nerd?
