After the first two rounds, he held a one-stroke lead, which he increased to five strokes after the third round. Going into the fnal hole of play, Van de Velde seemed to have the championship won with a three-stroke lead. However, his third shot landed in the deep rough to the right of the green and his next shot went into the water. Jean made a disastrous triple bogey forcing a three-man playoff with Justin Leonard and eventual champion Paul Lawrie. Van de Velde has been a prominent member of the european Tour and now is a regular member of the PGA TOUR. Character

The police detain Jacob, a young lawyer, following a death. He tells his story in flashbacks.
