 The Contract of Terror: An Essay Regarding the Intellectual Origins of Modern Terrorism $9.95 I wonder what the last reviewer's credentials are based on the reviews this book has recieved elsewhere. They miss the point completely, not only of the author's thesis, but the point of the work as a whole. 1. Yes it is concise, but its interpretation is completely different than anything else on the subject. Saying that the book is a "hodgepog" of other peoples ideas demonstrates the previous reviewer's ignorance, based on the fact that only one secondary source was used in the book!, and it is a classic of French Revolutionary scholarship, written about 50 years before the advent of modern terrorism, so it would seem logical to put it in a new historical context, post 9-11. It is concise at the attempt of making a scholarly article of interest to the masses. I don't know of anyother book which has attempted this in the same way. 2. As was also stated in the book, it was developed in a University setting, but as a Graduate School essay, not a college term paper. BIG difference. Moreover, the author has had other scholarly papers published in refereed professional journals, so one would think he is credible. Perhaps the major weakness of the work is that it was published as a short book, rather than in a professional journal, even though that was the author's point. (prob. mistake) Though I disagree with alot of the findings, it is a completely unique scholarly essay. It may be wrong, but it is ideas this unique which push scholarship in new directions...  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 $59.99 Coulda-Shoulda been the game of the year for PC instead a huge disappointment from IW. I've bought and supported Infinity Ward since Call of Duty 1 and can't believe they did this. Single player was 5 Star but Multiplayer (the reason you buy the game) is a 1 Star- if that. It's like xbox only worse and the host always has the advantage if you can stand to sit through the matchmaking, host quitting and the rest of the P2P problems. I can't believe they did this to us.
