i didn't really know what to expect from this cd when i bought it, except that i really like the rough guide series, and i could be reimbursed for it (i work in a travel store). an easy risk. what a shock when i listened to it! from the first track i knew it was going to be special. the influences are just fantastic, there doesn't seem to be any one major category to place it in. Warm, jazzy, afro-cuban, bold, all across the board. i would definitely recommend this. needless to say it never made it to my work, this one's a keeper...

Ian was at his zaniest best in this one covering Mauritius, Reunion, and Seychelles. We will never be able to go there so enjoyed Ian doing all the fun things for us. He meets interesting people, does some really fun things while teaching and sharing his experiences with us. The underwater wedding and the "canyoneering" were both memorable. It is easy to live vicariously through these Globe Trekker episodes. This one is absolutely hilarious! We also enjoyed Megan McCormick's visit to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. We know she had to have breathed deeply of the fresh air after her underground experience looking for gems. Both episodes make this DVD well worth it.

I got this book for an upcoming trip to Zanzibar. Though Zanzibar is the last, and smallest,of the countries covered, it is an excellent book. The pictures and the history of all of the countries covered makes this an excellent read.
