Austin Powers in Goldmember
Austin Powers in Goldmember

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery- I think this is a very funny movie. Mike Myers does an awesome job. Austin Powers is a 'sex symbol' of the 1960's and has himself frozen for 30 years, until his enemy Dr. Evil returns. He teams up with Vanessa Kensington, the daughter of his 1960s sidekick Mrs. Kensington. Can Austin defeat Dr. Evil again? I highly recommend AUSTIN POWERS: INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY!!!

Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me- This is an extremely funny sequel with plenty of gags and hilarious toilet humor! This time, Dr. Evil travels back in time when Austin was frozen, and steals his Mojo. Austin also travels back to 1969 to stop Dr. Evil from destroying the world, along the way he meets an incredibly beautiful spy named Felicity Shagwell, stops a miniature clone of Dr. Evil named Mini Me and much more. I highly recommend AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME!!!

Austin Powers in Goldmember- This is a very funny sequel that brings closure to the trilogy! It has hilarious gags, and more awesome toilet humor! Austin's father, Nigel has been kidnapped, and Austin needs Dr. Evil's help to find him. He is told that a man named Goldmember has Nigel in the year 1975. When everthing goes smooth in the 70's, Goldmember comes back to our time and teams up with Dr. Evil to destroy the world. I highly recommend AUSTIN POWERS IN GOLDMEMBER!!!

Gundam SEED is the original Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 redone for a new generation. This first volume starts off in much the same way as the original, with a peaceful colony housing a top secret prototype robot named Gundam being attacked. A young boy named Kira finds himself in the Gundam and ends up fighting out of necessity and not choice and over time becomes an ace and person who grows up through war.

This series has a twist where instead of a war for independence between the Earth Federation and the Zeon, it is a war of revenge between Z.A.F.T. (Coordinators: humans genetically engineered at birth to unlock more of their potential)and the Earth Federation (Naturals: ordinary people who have not been genetically enhanced). In Vol. 1 Kira and his friends are living in a neutral colony when Z.A.F.T. attacks looking to capture the 5 Gundam units and destroy the new Federation battleship, Archangel. Things don't go as planned with Kira ending up in one of the Gundams and his childhood best friend appearing as one of the ace Z.A.F.T. pilots trying to steal them. Eventually, him and his friends end up on the Archangel with one of the Gundams and what is left of the Federation crew and staff after a catastrophic Pearl Harbor like attack. The Archangel attempts to escape from the enemy in a pretty decent fight between 3 ships and all 5 of the Gundams.

Vol. 1 is a good intro to the world and story of Gundam SEED containing episodes 1 - 5, with much of it being a teaser for things to come. The Gundam and Kira's abilities only barely touched upon.

*Battleground* is one of the few documentaries worth watching in regards to the Iraqi war. Not only is it informative but it's emotional as well.

2 filmmakers from the Guerrilla News Network (GNN) spend 3 weeks in Iraq to get a closer look in Iraq as well as its people. Rana al Aiouby is an opinionated woman who feels that Americans are shoving their culture down the throats of Iraqis. The Iraqi man that she is discussing this particular view doesn't necessarily agree with her. In fact, he feels that Iraq will benefit from America just as Germany and Japan did. In addition, al Aiouby interviews young Iraqi men on their perspectives on Americans. Predictably, Americans aren't among their favorites.

Farhan al Bayati is a well known blogger among Iraqis. Not only does he comes to Iraqi to test radiation levels among discarded military weaponry but he comes with an personal agenda. Years ago, he joined the cause to oppose Saddam Hussein. He was eventually caught, shot and nearly left to bled to death by Saddam. He was rescued by Americans. After more than 10 years, al Bayati returns to see if any of his relatives are still living. If they are, he wonders if they would recognize him. All I can say is that there were a couple of emotional scenes.

I urge you to check out this documentary. You will see various perspectives on the war by Iraqis and by American soldiers. It's interesting to see where they stand on the war. Some of them offer such provoking ponderings. But the bottom line is whether or not this war can be resolved. Can this be a reality or are we from the opposite end of the spectrum from the Iraqis to even meet halfway?
