![]() Confessions of a Tax Collector: One Man's Tour of Duty Inside the IRS (P.S.) $13.95 Richard Yancey gives a voice to so many of us who worked for the IRS doing what a civilized society needs to function, but being hated all the same. I worked for the Service for seven years as an auditor and criminal investigator during the years described by Yancey and was amazed by his ability to depict the culture, challenges and often absurdity of dealing with the darker sides of humanity on a daily basis. What a terrific philosophical journey. Thank you! ![]() IRS Enrolled Agent Exam Review DVD Companion 2009/2010 EA Exam Edition $48.00 I thought that this DVD was great, mostly because I haven't seen any other DVD out there for the EA exam. It's basically tips about the exam, and it's an instructor in front of a class. Aside from the other material, I actually thought that the disk about Prometric was the most improtant one, and it was only about 40 minutes. But I get really, really nervous when I'm taking tests (I mean, REALLY nervous) and the information on the disks really helped me. I actually finished part 2 of the exam with about 10 minutes to spare, and last time I took the exam I ran out of time, so this helped a lot. You still need a book, though. But if you're expecting spectacular special effects or whatever, don't buy this. I still thought the picture quality was better than the NATP course I bought. ![]() How to Settle With the IRS for Pennies on the Dollar: The Unoffical Guide for Taxpayers Who Owe the IRS $19.95 This is a good book, covering the topic of the IRS Offer in Compromise Program. The author also talks about other avenues for mitigating IRS debt. The information is useful and well put together. There's a little bit of shameless self-promotion in the book, which I guess can be expected. But the content is all there, and it's good. This is one of the few OIC books on the market that's affordable, too. I've seen some OIC books selling for upwards of $100, so if you are considering an OIC, read this book cover to cover before you even attempt it. The IRS doesn't like to compromise--they hate doing anybody any favors. So you might as well be as informed as you can. Christy Pinheiro, Author of: *The Step-By-Step Guide to Self-Publishing for Profit* ![]() The IRS Problem Solver: From Audits to Assessments--How to Solve Your Tax Problems and Keep the IRS Off Your Back Forever $15.95 There is a ton of information available on the Internet to help you solve your tax problems. Some of it is good, and some of it is bad, and some of it will just plain get you in trouble. Not so with this book. This book contains information on just about every tax problem you might have, not just audits. Not only does he show you what to do in these situations, he gives you practical written examples of correspondence you can copy and send to IRS to solve your specific problems. One thing I liked about this book is that he also exposes various scams, like slave reparations and warns you against engaging in any of these "tax credits" because they aren't real. The information in this book will help you. Pilla is an expert in taxes, and he's even testified before Congress because his expertise is so widely known. One thing I would recommend is that you visit his website for the very latest information. Otherwise, you'll find exactly what you need here to help you avoid taking small problems with the IRS and turning them into big problems. |
