I had the old school earmuffs, which do keep your ears warm, but are also bulky, hard to carry around, and that plastic head piece gives me a headache. I tried the 180 degrees earmuffs which go across the back of your head - better, but still gave me a headache. Then, I happened across these last year on the internet and was very intrigued. I ordered a pair and am quite thrilled that I did. They are SUPER compact and fit nicely into a tiny little portion of my purse, so I carry them with me all winter long. They are very easy to get on and off, and they clip on securely (which I was afraid might not be the case when purchasing). They are very discreet and comfortable to wear, and they don't mess up your hair at all. You can wear your earrings with them, and either tuck them in to the ear mitt if not too bulky, or just let them dangle out (they'll be pushed towards your head a bit but it doesn't bother me). My favorite use for them is snowboarding - I absolutely can't stand the cold wind on my ears (gives me huge headache), but my old earmuffs would also give me a headache. Now, I wear these and pull my beanie over them (it covers the top portion of the ear mitts but the bottom half is exposed). They are amazing. My ears are quite cozy the entire day, with no pinching or headaches, and I've had no problems with them getting loose or disappearing. I've been showing my friends and family and all seem impressed - I'm thinking it could be a great Christmas gift! My daughter wants her own pair too (she's ten and loves mine).
