This book & CD was very helpful. I haven't played guitar in several years and was able to get right back into it. The lessons go from simple to complex and the CD is great to play along with.

For the most part you are not going to want to ever play more than half of these riffs, but learning the ones you like will expand you musical vocabulary and depending on your skill level might make you a better player. By far my biggest complaint is that the riffs don't loop, I've tried changing the last bar around on some riffs to make them repeatable but they get boring very quick. In my opinion only about 5% of the riffs were really excellent, surprisingly they were mostly in the country style and i am not even a country player. Nevertheless I think the book is worth a try because it is not just a bunch of cookie-cutter riffs and the guy who wrote the book is well educated in music, it's just too bad that most of his riffs can't flow for more than two bars and lack quite a bit of heart.

As a geezer let me tell you that i HAVE learned to play

lesson books....books 1 through 3 & the BLUES book as well.

Book 1, will get you actually reading sheet music and
playing it. Mission accomplished.

I wish I would have learned guitar about 5 or 6 decades ago.
