![]() Four Days in September $19.99 I enjoy a good political thriller and over the years I have seen a number of them. "Four Days in September" is of the quality of "Missing", "Z", and "Seven Days in May". It does an impressive job of setting the stage and moving quickly to the core of the story. The main characters and their motivation are always a key part of any good political thriller and this film brings this out very well. This is impressive since this is a Brazilian movie about Brazilian political situations yet the circumstances are clearly presented so that foreign audiences can easily follow along. There is an American angle to the film that is also well-presented in that it enables the audience to understand events from multiple perspectives. There is action, suspense, and lots of good acting. The movie comes to an end leaving the audience with a good postscript and a sense that we have had a unique experience. This is one of those movies that left me somewhat exhausted. ![]() In the White City [VHS] $19.95 This is a wonderful film on the effects of too much alcohol and too much free time. Slowly the protagonist slips into a sort of delirium not unlike a nervous breakdown; it's not pretty, but seems more real than any Hollywood rendition of mental angst. The lesson seems to be that you have to loose it all and then from there you can begin to put a semblance of your life together. It will ring true to anyone who has seen or experienced such things--fallen into the abyss and crawled out of it. Along the way, he meets a really cute Portuguese woman, gets rolled by local toughs and takes interesting 8mm movies. Highly recommended. ![]() Mato Grosso - "CHAPADA DOS GUIMARAES" Mug $10.99 This is a brand new custom made coffee mug imprinted using the latest sublimation technology.
