![]() GPS Golf Guru 4 Precise GPS/PDA Golf Rangefinder with Multi-application capabilities $399.95 Got the item about a month ago. I like the "Mark" feature that let's you know how far you hit the ball. Also, as most reviews will probably point out, the customer service people are very good. I have trouble reading the screen in the sunlight at times and my battery power lasts for just 2 rounds (not the 14 hours promised). Overall, I am pleased with how the unit has performed. Any time I have had a chance to confirm it's accuracy it gets high marks. Worth the price. ![]() The 500 World's Greatest Golf Holes $29.95 I have had the opportunity to play some great courses. Before I go to a well known course, I go to this book and review the holes I am going to play. The pictures are fantastic and the history is great. Lastly, before I took a trip to France, I took out this book and reviewed the potential courses. It was a great starting point to put the itinerary together and we played some beautiful courses. This is a great gift for any avid golfer. ![]() Secrets of the Great Golf Course Architects: A Treasury of the World's Greatest Golf Courses by History's Master Designers $40.00 The tests a golfer faces on the course are the direct result of the challenges originally faced by the golf course architect, whether they be complicated terrain, forces of nature, budget limitations, demanding developers, or the difficult task of balancing the practical scientific needs of a golf course with the architect¡Çs creative instincts.Secrets of the Great Golf Course Architects offers readers behind-the-scenes tales from America¡Çs master architects themselves in their own words. He misses a few notable courses and shows a little too much obvious preference for Coore and Crenshaw courses but I think this book is a must have for golfers who love courses. Delightfully for Americans who seemingly want lists of the best of everything, he adds that to the coda of this book making for endless lively debate. You really need both of these books if you love golf courses. |
