 The Golden Globe $7.99 John Varley is a master. If you were to have a Rarebit Dream, a hallucination beyond the looking glass or be caught in a pseudo low blood sugar rapture you would not approach his fantastic metamorphing of the Bard. His prose style is nearly as unique as Jack Vance, his characters transform themselves wonderfully, his stage is future nearly as crazy as our own dreams. I've given this to Shakespeareans and they've loved it. It's not Nivenesque science tale, it's truly unique. Please enjoy.  Fascinations Titan 8-Inch Levitating Globe, Metalic Blue $80.00 I bought this globe for my husband as a gift. It takes a while and some practice to get it to levitate and even once you can get it to levitate it only works for maybe a minute before the magnet at the top snaps it up. The globe itself is a thin, cheap plastic. I'm really unimpressed by this item, especially since it is fairly expensive for a globe. If the globe itself wasn't so cheaply made I wouldn't mind that the "levitation" is sketchy and brief at best. I would recommend people pass on this on this item.  Kenroy Home 31511GBRZ Georgetown One-Light Table Lamp, Golden Bronze with Cream Globe $199.80 I thought that the lamp itself is really nice. It is sturdy enough that it won't get knocked over by the kids. The shade was really nice when we got it, but within 2 weeks the metal pieces started to come apart. And, when the metal pulled itself apart, it started to unravel the cloth at the top. When I called about it, Amazon gave me a credit of $20 to buy a new one, but they could not give me an exact replacement. I haven't had the time to look for a new shade, which is going to be nerve racking, so it is still on the lamp. |
