My husband and I have faithfully watched this Emmy-winning show since it began three years ago. It's an accurate portrayal of the joys and pressures of life as they are faced by high-school students, staff, parents and families. The acting is fabulous, especially by veteran star Kyle Chandler as the football coach. We love the show and now own the DVD collection of every season to date; we'll add to our collection for as long as the show continues, which I believe is scheduled for at least two more seasons. For lovers of football, families and life.

I am not into football at all and hadn't considered watching Friday Night Lights until a friend suggested it. From the beginning, I had a very visceral reaction to this show.

I found the characters to be complicated and interesting, and that there were often "two sides to a story." I know it sounds hackneyed, but it feels like I know the characters -- maybe more like this is a documentary than a fictional TV series. The writing and the acting is very moving, and I found myself very sad when it (Season One) was finished. Satisfied, but sad.

On to Season Two... I highly suggest picking this up!

A light read, a step above chick lit. A story of a disparate group of women bonding over a common joy of knitting, who come to rely on each other far more than they suspected. The story doesn't veer too far from the plot direction taken early in the book, but there is a kicker you may not see coming. Good enough to want to read the sequel.
