![]() Definitive Jux Free Amazon Sampler [Explicit] $0.00 This Definitive Jux sampler (which should be free) is a good record to throw in the mix. If you like hip hop - especially this "indie-hop" stuff that I guess you could call some of this - you'll like the value (FREE), the names (El-P, Mighty Underdogs, etc.), and what you may very well discover if you're not familiar. Usually, free music is relegated to severely underground independent label compilations or heavily edited mainstream tracks - this sampler is the opposite, with lushly produced tracks and completely unedited songs. That's right, kids - Parental Advisory! I recommend downloading this if you have the time, the Amazon.com MP3 downloader (it's required?), and a want for some fresh new sounding hip-hop! ![]() Sunshine Of Your Love $0.00 I doubted I would really enjoy a cover of this classic, and a lyric-less one to boot? Nah. However, I gave it a shot (it was free), and I'm happy I did. Excellent production. Sounds like what Eric Clapton might have done with this if asked to make an instrumental version. The lead guitar almost seems to sing the words in places - its got that wha-wha tone - with another great guitar carrying the main melodic/rhythmic line of the original. Brian Tarquin's skill is really amazing, a wee bit busy here and there, but never overwhelming. I like the way the keyboards get a chance to shine, too, later in the cut. I listened to the Clapton version I have from The Cream of Clapton afterward, and the original actually suffered a bit in comparison (but I think that could be the fault of the production - it sounded a bit empty) - maybe there's a better cut by Clapton out there than the one I own. ![]() Analekta: Classical Gems: Free Sampler $0.00 I have thoroughly enjoyed this Classical music sampler. I would highly recommend - especially since it's free. A perfect way for somebody who isn't sure what they might enjoy to experience some beautiful music. |
