I started drinking Cafe Francais after my son was born. I would get him up and feed him his bottle and sit and sip this coffee every morning cradling him in my lap. This was before Starbucks or Coffee Bean was even heard of and it was like drinking a creamy latte. My son is now 24 years old and I am still drinking this coffee every morning. I look forward to having a cup when I wake up. My husband thinks it is cute but I do know that I am addicted to that first cup!
I buy it on Amazon because it is cost effective and so much easier to find.
Thanks General Foods!

I was pleased that the book was exactly as described: used, but in very good condition--with no writing in it at all--which was paramount for me, since it's a book of (written) exercises and contains no answer key. I also appreciated the very fast standard shipping--apparently much faster than that of many who just ordered the book new from Amazon. My only (minor) complaint about the packaging was that the seller used staples rather than packing tape to seal the envelope--not a good choice, as it's difficult not to get punctured while opening, if you're not extra careful--which I wasn't!

The English translations are not much to brag about, but they are there to serve a specific purpose: enabling us to read the original French. When we are engaged on such a project, we actually do not care about the beauty of the English translations: we need a trot, pretty much.

What matters more, I think, is whether the short stories are worth reading, and here Wallace Fowlie has scored a major triumph. Maupassant's "Menuet" and Balzac's "La Messe de l'Athee" are simply superb, and I look forward to reading the rest!
