Forza The Samurai Sword Workout: Kick Butt and Get Buff with High-Intensity Sword Fighting Moves by Ilaria Montagnani (DVD)
Forza The Samurai Sword Workout: Kick Butt and Get Buff with High-Intensity Sword Fighting Moves by Ilaria Montagnani (DVD)

Forza is a great cool down workout. I use it to warm up or cool down from other workouts. You do feel a bit in the shoulders but otherwise it is more of a relaxing workout. I know alot of people dig the yoga stuff so if you do but want something a bit more in motion; this is most likely a fit.

I would also recommend to LARP kids and people who are wanting to get started in working out but are worried about early failure do to intensity. The reason is, it doesn't get the heart rate up too high but does work the body and would make a great spring board exercise routine. For LARP players, its a workout that involves sword swinging muscles and works them repeatedly so you are less likely to grow tired while beating on your best friend.

Now for the down side, the DVD menu is like a bad bootleg as was already mentioned. Thats about all that needs to be said there.

Second, if you already know a martial arts: DON'T BOTHER. Nothing in this will sharpen an already developed style. Coming from a Tai Chi sword background, I find it difficult to perform her unexplained stance and grip. If you don't know anything about sword fighting, don't worry about this. If you do, she goes very little into stance and nothing into hold of the weapon. This is fine because she is doing an aerobic routine and not teaching sword techniques. I just find myself wondering if my hips and bellybutton are in the right place when it is not part of what she is trying to teach. All my flaw, not hers. I expect others to have the same problem.

Lastly, the workout is not hard. If you are a workout nut and want to up your ability.... not it. If you want something different but with the same level of intensity... not it. If you want a cool down or an off day workout - GET IT! It's a long slow workout and has its place, just not as a replacement to your current workout.

I am an avid comic book fan and I make no excuses for the lack of cohesive storytelling. However the fight scenes and special effects were excellent. The acting wasnt oscar calibre but it fit into the action genre the way it needed to.Wolverine was tortured by his past, Sabretooth was ruthless and menacing and Silverfox was the one who did it all for love. The others did a bang up job too. Everyone from Agent Zero to Deadpool played their parts to perfection. Bravo. The content was awesome. The character profile that actually had the character talking as thier characters, nice touch. The deleted scenes needed to be just that. The interview of Lien Wein and Stan Lee was great. It's a nice touch to see the creator of Wolvering get his just desserts. All in all great product fora great low price. Thanks Amazon.

The movie was not bad as an overall movie.
The plot was believable and logical.
The acting, while not shining, was decent for the situations it represented.
Gritty, urban, crowded, dirty, New york was a great backdrop for this type of movie.

The fight scene with the Dragon Le was the best one in my opinion.
Shawn's brawler style was a good contrast to Dragon's more classically oriented style.
This fight should have been the end fight and lasted longer.

Or they could have made the fight with Evan more crisp instead of an unskilled schoolyard like fight.
The fighters breaking down walls and disturbing the guests did not make up for the fact that it was contrived and uninspiring as a final match.

I liked the romantic tension between Shawn and Zulay. She was attractive with the benefit of a common sense and life experience that flavored her character.
Terence Howard did quite well. The whiny voice did not fit the character he portrayed, but his actions fleshed out the trials of the washed up betrayed fighter turned promoter.

If you are looking for a nice tepid movie with a bit of excitement and a nice underdog storyline I definitely recommend this movie.
But if you are actually looking for a youthful fighting movie I would recommend Never Back Down.
Cookie cutter as it may seem to some, the fight scenes and training scenes were pretty nice.
I also recommend RedBelt for a more mature version of Fighting with a bit more of a darker and stronger feel.

I recently decided to learn some JKD basics and started by purchasing the new collective edition of Bruce Lee's Fighting Method: The Complete Edition. BLFM is Bruce's original teachings on JKD. This video is a very good adaptation of the basics covered in the book, and accompanies it very well. The part that I had a hard time with in the book is the southpaw stance (on-guard position) used in JKD. I really needed some visual guidance. JKD basic techniques (movements, lunges, kicking and punching) are covered well here and will help you better understand the information in the book. The only problem is the short length of the video (about 52 minutes) and its price.
