I bought this loser on DVD believing I was getting a quality print from celluloid. Wrong! It's a cheap reprint of the same movie I found for free from the Public Domain since the idiots in Hollywood permitted this pretty darn-good movie lapse out of copyright.

I had happy memories of playing with this toy as a child in the 70s, so my brother and I were psyched to get it for my 7-year-old nephew. Regrettably, the quality of the current product is AWFUL. When we tried cranking Evel's cycle before launching, it made an incredibly loud amount of noise, but would weakly take off and not go more than a few inches. Somehow, though it's made from the same molds as the Ideal toys were made from back in the 70s, it just wasn't working right. We contacted Back to Basics Toys, and they were very accommodating about sending a brand new one, but the second one malfunctioned exactly as the first one did. They issued a refund without any hassle, but the only ones more disappointed than our nephew were me and my brother!

According to my older sons, ages 42, 43, this is the same as it was back in their day. I bought this for my 4 year old grandson for his birthday and he loves it. I would not call this product educational in any way except for one thing. My little grandson just got into motorcycles big time so he was bought a book on motorcycles. That book had a short history with pictures of Evel Knievel. When I got him the toy, he knew who Evel Knievel was and was very excited. It does have an Evel Knievel figurine so little one was very happy. Ordering was easy as always and delivery was fast.
