![]() The Best of Eric Carmen $20.49 The first time I heard "All By Myself" back in 1976, it made me immediately remind of Barry Manilow's great superhit "Could It Be Magic". Even when Eric Carmen and the great BM have some similar chords, they aren't exactly the same kind of performers. Being previously with The Raspberries, Carmen is greatly influenced by Rock'n'Roll music. If you cannot get this Carmen's "Best of", I would suggest you to get his "Eric Carmen" by Rhino instead, you'll be equally satisfied!!! ![]() Tonight You're Mine $12.98 As an ardent fan of Eric Carmen's solo work, as well as his work with The Raspberries I find this CD to be very enjoyable with a few lyrical surprises when you consider the year it was released. The title track is very well written, composed and performed and should have charted higher than it did. If you think Eric Carmen and think ballads, you should give a listen to "Foolin' Myself". The passion and conviction with which it is sung, tugs at one's heartstrings and can make one teary-eyed! Though this was released in 1980, the melodies, lyrics and vocal presentation stand the test of time! ![]() All by Myself $11.98 Eric Carmen has a great voice, but was erroneously squeezed into the screeming rock. Maybe he put himself in that genre, thinking it most marketable. All By Myself was hauntingly beautiful revealing his unique vocal abilities. Had he had Josh Groban's trainer/manager he would have bowled me over with every song. To be fair, that could be me and my age. |
