Energies: An Illustrated Guide to the Biosphere and Civilization
Energies: An Illustrated Guide to the Biosphere and Civilization

$22.95
This is an incredibly easy book to read and understand, amply illustrated by clear graphics. This is not a simple book. It is an encyclopedia of energy, from sunlight, to the biology produced by sunlight, to the energy we gain from using our environment as fuel. Reading through each section (they are clear and cogent) is an exercise in connecting simple inputs with complex outputs. The section on transportation takes you from walking to running to riding the bicycle, all the way to trains, planes, and rocket boosters, all of which developed differently and use energy very differently. The book is packed with wonderful essays that are well written, ideas that jump off the page, and graphic illustrations that make sense. It's one of those books you can actually flop open at random and get engrossed in all over again. If there's a criticism to this book, it is that it is only a sampler. It could easily have been twice as long.

The Energy Bus: 10 Rules to Fuel Your Life, Work, and Team with Positive Energy

This book jumped out at me at a time where it is so much easier to be negative with so many difficulties in our economy. Similar to the secret the book shared how being a more positive person leads to more positive reward. By surrounding yourself with up beat people - you in turn can't help but be up beat your self!!

Energy ESW-8HG 8
Energy ESW-8HG 8" 200 watt Take Classic subwoofer

$299.00
This sub is simply lacking some basics:
1) "Auto power-off" just does not work. Hours after turning off receiver, this puppy still rumbles away with standby noise.
2) No "line out". For all receivers lacking a "sub out", you need to run a dedicated speaker-level output from your reveiver, sucking down power, and your bookshelf speakers still get the full spectrum to work with. Why have a sub if you're not going to include a crossover to give your small speakers a break on the bass?
3) Pretty limited output, given its rated 200W power. Maybe it's due to having only an 8" driver. Seems kind of muddy/ delayed too. I expected a smaller driver would be more punchy, but no.
This one's going back...
