I love F# A# and Skinny Fists but this album doesn't live up. The production is bad. Very one-dimensional and muddy. Not at all like the other albums. No soundstage. No strings and bells in front of you. Just a muddy mess. A lot of symbol crashing in the far background like static. I admit I've only given it one listen, but that's all it took to love the others so I think I'm on the right track. Save your money and pass on this one.

Built in two parts, the first being drenched into dark nature and space, bleak and eerie paths that lead to the fifth song where the gate opens leading to the second part of the opus which is becoming of bombastic arrogance riding on symphonic skeleton to culminate with and ode to dark powers, reaching simultaneously the highest of the peeks.

Godspeed's debut was an interesting far cry away from the precise celestial attacks they would flesh out on subsequent outings. These rural, idea-intensive sketches flow by underwhelming when put in a three part context, but do indeed contain enough committed existential dread paired with minimalist melody to indicate why the committed collective would continue to sonically rattle many compositional cages.

My daughter really enjoyed listening to the story after she downloaded it to her MP3 player. It was a great way to keep her entertained on a long train ride. The Audio CD came within a week and was in great condition. We're happy with the purchase.
