![]() Life on Mars: The Complete Series $39.99 I have to say that I have always checked out both British TV and the American remakes. Most of the time, they were pretty good. But in my opinion here, there should have only been the BBC version of this show. Other than the music, I found nothing to keep me watching thsi version. I am not sorry that I bought it, I was curious about the show. I never knew that a remake was made. The BBC version actors were more in tune with the emotions that should have been played out in the American version but missed by a mile. Actor John Simm conveys the emotions that probably would have hit all of us were we suddenly back in 1970. I know that I would freak... The second season of the British version of "Life on Mars" comes out next week, I can't wait to get my copy. I would not say don't see this. If you have not checkout the BBC version, you might like this. But please check out the BBC version, it will be an emotional ride you'll not forget. ![]() Life: Season One $29.98 To bad nobody watched this show. It was different, funny, and very well written. However, the fun lives on through the magic of DVD. Damien Lewis is great, Sarah Shahi is hot, they work well together, and play off each other very well. You don't have the sexual tension undetone that drives most male/female shows, which is rather refreshing. If you are looking for a twist on the traditional cop show, you've found it. ![]() Castle: The Complete First Season $39.99 Castle is the funniest show around, which is interesting because it's also a crime drama. It's also the best show depicting a quirky but loving family. Most shows about which you could make that last comment are cast with some very strange actors all doing their own schtick, but this show is well-integrated: a truly stellar ensemble cast. Admittedly, I'd be happy listening to Nathan Fillion read the phone book, but he doesn't hog the jokes. His reactions to the other characters, which are often hilarious, feel real; he's not scene stealing, he's enhancing. Love this show! I wish there had been more bloopers, but overall the disk set of the first season is well produced with nice packaging and it arrived from Amazon in good shape. Small plug for Amazon shipping department: I've never received anything damaged from them, a fact that sends me back to Amazon all other things being equal. ![]() Pushing Daisies: The Complete Second Season $39.98 I love the characters, the SET DESIGN, costume design, everything. Ned & Chuck's whining followed by upbeat optimism gets a bit tiresome (and repetitive), but on the whole a great concept. What if you could revive the dead? and why don't the revived dead ever talk about what they experienced after death? is there no after life?....hmmmm. A great show; i'm still waiting for the promised comic book that would tie up all loose ends to come out. It was promised in SEPTEMBER. |
