Winner of the Avanca Film Festival Award for Best Cinematography Nominated for Best Film at the Bogota Film Festival Nominated for Best Film at the Valladolid International Film Festival  In the Land of Women $3.99 I had forgotten that I had watched this movie, but with Amazon's suggestion for me to purchase it, I remembered how much I really loved "In the Land of Women". It's about young man Carter (Adam Brody who gives an awesome performance) who moves from LA to Michigan to live with his funny and loveable Grandmother. While he is dealing with change of scenery and helping Grandma survive, he meets across the street neighbors Lucy, Paige and Sarah(Kristen Stewart, Mackenzie Vega and thier mom Meg Ryan). He helps them deal with their emotional trauma and Sarah's life threatening disease which is tearing apart her family (including her confused and distraught husband). This is another amazing and fulfilling performance from Meg Ryan- as well as Kristen Stewart does a tremendous job of being the troubled, but struggling to understand teenager. It's about dealing with trauma, learning to move on, learning who you are, what you can take, who can deal and who can't. It is a really wonderful story and so well worth the watch. Tear jerker at times, laugh reel at times... I am very impressed with it. |
