Melissa & Doug Going Places 48-Piece Floor Puzzle
Melissa & Doug Going Places 48-Piece Floor Puzzle

$12.99
I got this for my son a few weeks ago and it's been one of the most successful toys we've gotten him to date, I think. Doing the puzzles teaches and supports all kinds of great things -- learning shapes, as other reviewers have noted, but also manual dexterity, logic, spacial relationships, memory (remembering which pieces go where). They are fun for us to do together and he really enjoys doing them by himself, too -- he gets great satisfaction out of completing a puzzle ("Make a boat!" "Make a train!") -- which has the added benefit of giving us a little parental quiet time. The quality is great: the pieces fit together very easily and smoothly and they can take a beating and emerge unscathed. Also, my son was 24-and-a-bit months old when he started playing with the puzzles, so don't hesitate to ignore the recommendation that they're suitable for 3 years and older!

I have been using Edmark for years and this is just another excellent product for students.

I will be using this place value chart in my homeschool preschool this fall. I let my preschooler try it out today and he enjoyed counting out the correct number of rods and placing them in the pocket of the corresponding number. A great place value tool, and I like that it can be hung on the way instead of taking up floor/storage space like so many of our other educational activities.
