WebPlus X2 Website Maker
WebPlus X2 Website Maker

$79.99
I purchased this for my personal website. After using Front Page for several years, this app is a breeze. It does have a couple of frustrating limitations:
Photo galleries are limited to 64 images
You can place captions on photos, but are limited to font size and caption placement
When creating a sub page, the navigation links on that sub page spread across the navigation area, making the font very large in some cases it just doesn't look right. For example:
Home page: index.htm
Pages: Pages 1-6
Page 2 has sub pages 2.1 and 2.2
When you click on page 2.1 sub page to view, the navigation links (options to select other pages) will show: Page 2.1, Page 2.2, and Page 2, and Home, spread across the entire navigation area (master page determines overall layout of your navigation area)
On the plus side: page hyperlinks are automatically created (or removed) as you build your site. Easy to edit the hierarchy of the pages by simply dragging to new location, master pages easy to edit and apply to all or select pages within website
Dreamweaver CS4: The Missing Manual
Dreamweaver CS4: The Missing Manual

$44.99
I had been teaching a workshop on Dreamweaver CS3 and had to get a new book when CS4 came out. I picked "The Missing Manual" and was very pleased with it. You will find tons of information in this very thick book, and instead of including a CD, you downloaded your tutorial files from their internet site. It worked perfect. The site also had a list of Errata, in case you felt that something was wrong. Not every chapter had a tutorial, but the ones that did were to the point.

Another thing I liked about the book is that the author gave his frank opinion about different features of the software and, if he felt they were not useful, he said so! Often a book is sponsored by the software manufacturer and they will never admit there is anything wrong with the software!

I used the book for a beginner's class (32 hours) in Dreamweaver, and had hoped to cover around 800 pages, but that was too ambitious. However, the students, who were originally intimidated by the enormous book, seemed to have a good handle on Dreamweaver at the end of the session.

I would have liked to have had more video tutorials on the web site - there was only one - so be prepared to get your information from the book the old fashioned way.

Good book, lots of material

This book will save you months of aggravation -- I know from experience.

I tried for at least two months trying to figure out Dreamweaver, and this book laid it all out for me in two days. Two days ago, I had no idea how to even create a site with Dreamweaver. Now, I expect to spend the next few days getting my hands dirty with Java like all the pros.

Do yourself a favor and buy this book as soon as you get CS4.
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 [OLD VERSION]
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 [OLD VERSION]

$399.00
I purchased Dreamweaver CS3 from the seller,ljc_establishment. The serial number on the software package was not recognized by Adobe as a valid number. I notified the seller who proceeded to email a total of 5 serial numbers to try. None of them were accepted by Adobe. At this point I asked for a refund. I received approval to mail the copy back to ljc_establishment which I did, requesting a turn around time for the refund. That's the last time I heard from the seller after numerous attempts to communicate.
