This game is absurd. I've played RPGs since the genre was invented, but this one is really just a poorly cobbled-together mess of forced quests and boss takedowns. Graphically bearable, but horrible to play, this game sets you up with endless situations in combat that will wipe you out not because of your strategy, but because of the terrible game mechanics. You cannot easily do -any- of the things one needs to do constantly in combat. The result is a frustrating, hand-wrenching mess that is as unrewarding to play as it is expensive to own. Avoid this one at all costs, the hype is lies: this game is a loser. I rue the day I first heard of it. I may destroy my copy just to save someone else the agony of attempting to play this mess.

Bioware got 2 out of 3 right. The graphics are spectacular and the storylines are complex and multi-layered. However, the combat can be frustrating. Even at the Easy level, expect to face overwhelming odds at some spots depending on your characters abilities. Even with a party of four, you will be faced with odds of 3 or 4 to 1 or worse in some spots. The main quest line has four parallel paths. With some characters, I have had to back up and re-start down a different path because I could not get past a particular spot due to lack of healing. Which is another problem, healing potions. With a party of four, you go thru them quickly unless you are a mage with healing ability. Replacement healing potions are few and far between in the quantities needed. Combat tactics can be customized which is good since you are mostly doling out healing potions to your party members during any large scale combat actions. Overall, the game is good but expect it to be frustrating. Finally, I would not attempt this game without its accompanying strategy guide.

Our grandson enjoys all the Dragonology books and we wanted to get him the Dragonology DS game, but it still has not been released. Thought he may enjoy this game -- and he sure does!

First, these games are totally awesome! They are for the most part arcade perfect! Unfortunately, there's a down side. I bought this hoping it would run on my computor. It won't!! The game's freeze every few minutes! Digital leisure provides a download that's is supposed to fix the problem! It doesn't! My computor meets all specs for this game. And I'm running "Windows XP". Don't buy this version! Buy "Dragon's Lair 20th Anniversary Edition DVD". This version works perfectly! I tried contacting Digital Leisure and got no response. What a shame!!!
