![]() Splinter Cell Double Agent $19.99 If you love a challenge then you will love this. I love the fact you have the option to make certain decisions. ![]() Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent $39.99 Can you say Chaos Theory part 2! I played the 360 version of this game about 5 times now, and I do enjoy playing it, but after I finally got my hands on this version I doubt I will go back and play the other. I was under the impression that both games were the exact same, with one just being in high definition. I was quick to realize they are nothing alike, with the exception of a few same cut scenes. If you enjoyed playing Chaos Theory; then you will feel very comfortable with the controls and be impressed by the presentation. I have to take my hat off to the creators in Montreal for creating this version, as opposed to the creators that made the 360 version in Shanghai. Even the way the story is depicted in this version is superior to its counterpart. Also a very important aspect of the game is the training that is designed to help new comers to the series learn the controls; this is a feature that isn't introduced in 360 version, and I feel was a missing ingredient in the 360's success. I just love how the game picked up where Chaos Theory left off though, in anticipation for the release of Conviction, I've been playing through all the splinter cells to satisfy my urge, and I'm very excited I now have a game so similar to its predecessor. Every level is designed differently that the 360 version, giving you all the tools and gadgets you need. You get to do all the bad ass moves that Sam Fisher has always done: Hanging upside down snapping necks, doing splits in narrow hallways, and the exposure HUD that displays your noise and exposure in the light is very similar to Chaos Theory. The Dolby Digit sound is very good for an original Xbox game, but the presentation is just about the same as CT was. Very fun and entertaining game, definitely recommended for fans of the series, you will not be disappointed. If you are a new comers to the series, then this a must buy as well, with the well thought out training course, you'll figure out the controls very quickly. ![]() Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent $29.99 Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent on the PC is underwhelming at best. An obvious port from the Xbox 360 the games controls suffer and is unstable. To often a C.T.D. (crash to desktop) would leave me wanting to throw my wireless mouse across the room. The only reason I picked this up on PC is becasue I've played all other S.C. game on PC and didn't want to break with tradition. Ignoring other warnings in reviews I got it anyway, and wonder if it was worth it. The story in S.C.:D.A. is alright and the game plays well enough, when it works, and you get everything you would expect to get in a Splinter Cell game, it's just to bad that it suffered from being a console game ported to the PC. Rent or borrow this on PC. -Eric ![]() The Double Agents: A Men at War Novel $9.99 If you are expecting a can't wait to turn the page, suspenseful story that keeps you on the edge of your seat about spies, this is NOT it! This novel is far from it. Instead, it is pretentious and boring! In just about every section of every chapter, the characters are reintroduced with their full names and titles -- were the authors trying to pad the word count? I can't remember the last time that I read a book where the past perfect tense was used so poorly. I have probably read/seen "had had" and "that that" more times in this book than in total for the last 100 novels I've read. There is little to no plot here. Instead, the readers are treated to lots of mundane details that would not appear in a fast-pace, knock your socks off read. Boo on these two so-called authors. I'll never pick up another one of their books even from the discount rack. With such an interesting topic as the OSS and WWII, the authors missed the boat, but their books should have a front row seat on a garbage barge. I wish Amazon would let us rate half-stars. |
