![]() Once Upon a Time... $11.98 "Once upon a time" is a kind of "Bible" for Disco music genre. In fact, this Donna's album has never reached an extreme success at the time, mainly because it did not contain hot hits. However, it is a masterpiece of disco music and could be considered as real piece of contemporary music art. It contains different disco music approaches, from hot-dancy-dynamic "Rumour has it", over mystique and religious-choir chanting "I need you" to melodic and soft "Once upon a time". I could say that it is the most complete Donna's albums ever, reaching the top of Summer-Moroder cooperation. Listening to "Once upon a time" album you will discover a core of disco music genre and understand easily why disco music is art music indeed: no hit tunes, no hot melodies, pure art remains. Even today, 30 years after (!), it sounds actual and intrigant. Put it in your CD player and make an adventure through the golden disco era. ![]() The Dance Collection $13.98 You rarely heard these 12-inch dance mixes on the radio, so it's great to find an album devoted to Donna Summer's extended disco classics. "The Dance Collection" is worth having if only for the 17-minute "MacArthur Park Suite" - a stunning tour de force. This 1987 compilation does not include all of Donna's 12-inch singles, but at least we have the expanded versions of "I Feel Love," "Last Dance" and "Hot Stuff" under one roof. A second volume is definitely in order. ![]() VH1 Presents: Live & More Encore! $11.98 I have had this since it was first released. Donna is a phenomenal live performer. She doesn't miss a beat. |
