![]() Why We Suck: A Feel Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid $16.00 I've been a fan of Denis Leary since "Rescue Me" premiered and was excited to see that he had written a book because his stand-up shows are so funny. Denis is a very intelligent guy and he can write very beautifully at times, however the book was written in a way that made it a bit difficult for me to read. A lot of it was done in a stream-of-consciousness style, with little punctuation and lots of run-on sentences that drove me sort of crazy. Then, there were passages with amazing imagery & language that I wished the entire book was written like. It's also not very well organized with subjects bleeding over into several chapters (I mean I hate kids too but do we really need like 3 chapters on them?) and it's mostly just griping. The title of the book gave me the impression that there would be lots of information on making changes that we can all implement in our lives to help the greater good, but the book was more of a bitch-fest than anything else. If you're not expecting a serious read and want a better glimpse into the mind of Dr. Leary, check this book out. If you're looking for a better-organized, well-thought-out book on what needs to change in this country, try "Somebody's Gotta Say It!" by Neal Boortz. ![]() Rescue Me: Uncensored: The Official Companion $19.95 I was so completely disappointed by this book. I guess it just wasn't my style. I am Denis' #1 fan and was really bummed. Certainly didn't finish it. I felt like I completely wasted my money. |
