![]() David Gilmour in Concert - Live at Robert Wayatt's Meltdown $19.98 The beginning of the DVD I first thought a little odd, it seemed like Gilmour was doing a sound check. But it quickly turned into Shine On You Crazy Diamond. He performed many of the classic Pink Floyd tunes and even though I was skeptical that I would like a lot of them played on an acoustic guitar, I enjoyed the whole show tremendously. Unlike when Clapton turned Layla into an acoustic version that had little resemblance to the legendary version, Gilmour's acoustic interpretation is very similar to the recorded versions. He does pickup an electric guitar -- a Gretsch -- from time to time and it's every bit as good as it used to be. David's voice isn't quite what it used to be, but he's not as young either like a lot of us fans. I didn't find it detracting from the entertainment and motivational value as guitar player. I highly recommend this video to any Pink Floyd/David Gilmour fan. I think you'll find it well worth the price. ![]() David Gilmour: Remember That Night - Live At The Royal Albert Hall [Blu-ray] $34.98 I am a huge Dave Gilmour fan but I have never been so disappointed with a Bluray as I am with this one. The video quality is unbelievably poor and Sony should be ashamed that they did not capture this concert properly and the moment is now lost for ever. Do not waste your money getting this on Bluray, just get the DVD.I am so disappointed that I cannot bring myself to watch it right now. ![]() About Face $7.99 I was and am a huge fan of Gilmour's first album, which came out right when the Columbia started distributing music videos to the record stores (pre- MTV) where I worked at the time. About Face is a natural transition and fills the blank between David Gilmour and the later Pink Floyd releases (Momentary Lapse of Reason & The Division Bell) as well as On an Island. His solo work is incredibly refreshing. I highly recommend About Face and David Gilmour. ![]() Live In Gdansk (2 CD/2 DVD) $49.98 If your a David Gilmour fan this is great! At first I wasn't sure about the music as it is different from the Pink Floyd that I am used to, but after listening to it a couple of times I can't wait to hear it again. The video shows how great a guitar player Gilmour is. It's amazing to watch him make those strings sing. |
