![]() Dark Sector $19.99 This is a decent game, that gets some points in my book for being so cheap--at this price, I'm happy with the purchase and had some fun. The graphics are nothing new, but they are certainly effective. In fact, the Russian setting in a variety of cold war bases, gulags, cemeteries, and other creepy Soviet-style locations are all very well done, varied, richly detailed and evocative. The combat is a little clunky, but the variety of weapons, powers, and whatnot make up for that. The various guns, the Glaive, and the extra powers are very fun to use. I never got tired of the different methods of using the Glaive & guns combination. The most annoying elements of the game are: 1) As the game goes on, there's a nice progression of various enemy types, but as the combat gets harder, the imprecision of the controls, especially the melee moves, starts to become a bit frustrating. Also frustrating is the Gears of War syndrome: since one or two buttons perform so many different functions depending on the context, movement can be really problematic-- you roll when you are trying to take cover, you take cover when you want to roll, you run when you are trying to roll. 2) The fact that it is not always clear how to proceed to the next area, as the puzzles are pretty hard to figure out. 3) The boss fights always rely on some trick sequence or puzzle or series of steps that are just very difficult to determine. Another reviewer has noted that you can't even tell if you are hurting the bosses, as they don't register increasing damage, they just keel over after you've finally figured out the right move! Open combat with soldiers and zombie/infected enemies is much more fun. The enemies are stupid, but numerous, so that balances out. If you can deal with those negatives, this makes a nice little actioner. The elements ripped off from other games is more than made up for by the unique setting and interesting mix of powers and weapons. Like I said, this game won't change your life, and don't bother with it if you haven't yet played the big action games for the 360. But after you've played those out, you might want to give this a go, especially at $5! ![]() Condemned 2: Bloodshot $19.99 The game came in great condition and in no time at all. Perfect mint condition and it played well all the way through. Amazing game, great graphics--it was worth the money!! ![]() Dark Sector $19.99 This game plays very well on my older Dell PC with a Pentium 4 3.4ghz. Graphics, controls, and gameplay are very nice. The issue with video settings and aspect ratio seems to be a minor problem. Even though I have a wide screen monitor, I set the video to a 1:3 ratio with very little verticle stretching. Even though the game does not keep the video setting each time it is started up, I have found that setting the video to another setting and then resetting back to my preference and then restarting from my latest checkpoint, then it is all good again ... a little bit of a hassle, but for this price and the great action and fun this game provides, it is very worth it.
