![]() Coffin Joe - Awakening of the Beast $29.99 Awakening of the Beast (Jose Mojica Marins, 1970) Jose Mojica Marins and his alter ego Coffin Joe have developed an incredible cult following over the past almost-five decades (the first Coffin Joe film was made in 1964; the most recent, as of this writing, was 2008's FilmPhobia) with Marins' particular brand of exploitation and cheesy horror. I've watched a few of the movies over the years, and for the life of me I can't figure out what it is about this guy that gets so many people talking. All the Coffin Joe movies I've seen have been incoherent, silly, and gratuitous, and this one is no different. As far as I could tell, the plot has to do with a bunch of drug users who are administered LSD by a group of psychiatrists to find out how they deal with Coffin Joe. The results are kind of unexpected, since I think most of Coffin Joe's audience was already on the stuff. There's a lot of nudity and a lot of drug use, so if you like that sort of thing, go for it. As for the rest of you, you can safely ignore this. * ![]() Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition $19.99 Let me be honest: I saw NOTHING wrong with the visuals. To say, I don't have the game on the PS2, but if it really looks that bad, then it should look pretty amazing on the PS2. But a few stretched textures up close can ruin it, and the gamepad support will **** up the game. Only way is to load up X-padder, set it up, plug out the controller, load the disk, and then you plug the controller back in. But still, really fun. The combat is pretty complex. There is a basic melee attack, jump, Gun fire, and "Style move" button. The melee attacks are pretty good on there own because you can use 'delay' combos. The style moves are what make the game an experience. There are different styles (only one can be used at a time.) One style allows you to use some missing basic platforming moves like dodging and wall jumps (this is no Super mario bros.) Another increases your arsenal of melee moves, and as you level the style each weapon gets new moves. This basically is like a second attack button. Then there is one style (the only one which doesn't level, other than trickster) which allows you to slow down time. My favorite is the Gunslinger. You can do tricks like aiming both of your pistols seperately, smacking your foe with the butt of your rifle, and even alternate fire modes. Some guns are improved because there are cinematic esque moves you wouldn't think they could incorporate in games. Badly ported, but still fun. ![]() Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening (Special Edition) $19.95 Dante was not the only man sired by the demon sparda, there was another: Vergil.
