![]() The Legend of D B Cooper $29.95 So, let me get this straight. DB Cooper, the man who hijacked that famous flight, was a woman? Or a transgender? Just the thought sounds utterly ridiculous. On the surface it sounds as if the authors are joking. But then, fact is often stranger than fiction. I cant help but hear Shania Twain in my head: "Man, I feel like a woman". J/K Hey I havent read the book, so I rated it down the middle (3 stars). I think that DB Cooper could rather easily have made the jump. Especially if he was used to jumping out of planes in the military. But, to say that he was a she? Weird. But, I must say: Never say never. As crazy as it sounds, anything is possible. I still say he was a man. ![]() Norjak the Investigation of D B Cooper $8.95 While I feel sorry for Himmelsbach (He's been tortured trying to find Cooper for decades now) I have to say......dont just assume that D.B. Cooper didnt make it. You could be making a big mistake on an assumption not supported by evidence. I realize that it makes authorities look bad if a hijacker gets away with his act, but this case was never easy....authorities shouldnt be ashamed that Cooper avoided them. Cooper had.....I dont want to say courage, because it was a serious act that could have gotten himself or innocent passengers killed. But he did something that was remarkable. Had the airliner crashed, Cooper would have went down in history as a terrorist scumbag. But since nobody was hurt, and since Cooper's "explosives" appear to have been fake, I can understand why some look at him as a hero. I think that "hero" is a bit too strong. The man didnt save any lives. But to commit such a daring (stupid?) act and to be able to get away with it, lets face it...it is the stuff of legend. If Cooper hadnt done it, it would have made a great fictional movie. He is a modern day outlaw. Only there wasnt a horse, and it was a plane not a train. He wasnt armed, ready to kill if he didnt get his way. That is what makes him different from outlaws of yesterday. That is why some find him to be a good legend, almost like Robin Hood, only he didnt give the money to the poor,as far as we know. It was almost as if the whole thing was never about the money, but instead it was about a prank. If I didnt know any better, I would think that Cooper hijacked that plane knowing that he wouldnt be able to cash any of the money, and that he was ok with that, because it wasnt about money. It was about the thrill. If the man was desperate to get his way, he would have been armed, or would have had real explosives. He wouldnt have taken a chance at being detected as a hoaxer if he wanted to cause any harm. It's almost as if he wanted to put one over on the airline or the government. And he got away with it. Or it appears that way, anyway. I think someday, we will know the truth. I must say....I hope that he made it.Why? I dont know. Maybe because it's great to believe that legends can be more awesome in their realism, than in their fictional sense. And you cant write a better mystery than this real one. ![]() Pursuit of D.B. Cooper [VHS] $9.99 This movie was okay, I was kind of hoping for a bit more truth to it. There was one scene where my hubby and I looked at each other with a 'what the heck' look. Parts of it seemed a bit like Smokey and the Bandit. A lot of extra characters and car chases. Was pretty disappointed. |
