Two Words, One Answer.
Cyndi Lauper's
 The Body Acoustic $19.97 i think she is an awsome singer she has done so much for the gay commuinty and the hrc it was cool to see her at the san francisco pride last year she is wonderful keep up the good work gril blessed be  She's So Unusual $7.99 This is almost a greatest hits album in and of itself. Pretty much all the songs are great pop rock songs, a complete album of good stuff. I've generally gravitated to country/western roots rock music over the years, but I still enjoy this pure fun pop music from Cyndi from when I was a kid. (Shhh don't tell anyone!). Seriously Cyndi does a great job here and it holds up well over time.  At Last $7.99 I'm the 548th person to review this CD and only 53 have reviewed the brilliant She's So Unusual. That's inexplicable, especially since this CD is just, well, so usual. And that's its problem. Cyndi aims for diva stardom and hits tepid. At Last is a macro for all the other cuts -- there's nothing wrong with her version; I just don't believe it or get moved by it. Not even with Cyndi dressed up on the cover and NYC lit up by moonlight behind her. It doesn't sound like true love at last -- it just sounds like an opening cut and that's the problem throughout, a CD long on rich production and short on emotion. |
