This DVD on peak oil in Cuba which occurred after the collapse of the Soviet Union is excellent. It showed how, with the impact of the US embargo and the associated lack of trade and oil from Russia, that the Cubans had to improvise to survive. The movie presented pictures of what life was like in Cuba, but most importantly showed how they started vegetable gardens for their food. Also, since they no longer received fertilizers, they had to learn how to implement organic farming without fertilizers. In the end, all of this was good for the Cubans and should inspire us in the US to follow their example.
