![]() The Holman Concise Bible Commentary (Holman Reference) $14.97 Gave this as a gift because I bought two others. Now wish I had kept it, especially as the other person does not use this one. ![]() Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament $59.99 As you may read in other reviews this is a "must have" book. But...I wish it had better binding. Rather that having stitched/folded pages, it has the cheaper "injected glue" binding. Thus when you open this massive 1230 ppg book both sides of the book "heave" up causing the text near the inner margin to "fall off" into the inner margin. This makes reading and marking of the text very difficult. My Langenscheidt's New College Merriam-Webster English Dictionary is similar size book but with stitched binding...and it lays "flat" when opened. A much better situation and more pleasing to use. Sad to see such an important work with this stiff, cheap binding. My other negative. Both Greek and Hebrew is transliterated. We want the Greek text at least. Also a better use of bold text should have been used to make the OT/NT citations stand out to catch the eye. But, buy the book. ![]() New Bible Commentary: 21st Century Edition $45.00 I had used an older edition of this book and realized that it was a must for my library. This new edition is easy to use and filled with information about each book of the Bible. The authors wrote their commentaries in a method that is easy to read and understand. If you want good Biblical commentaries, this is the book. -- Kenneth Whitman ![]() KJV Standard Lesson Commentary $15.99 This is a bargain for so much material. I base my sunday school lessons on this framework, but work in my own illustrations and discussion questions. Like any lesson material, some have more pop than others. I very much like that, so far, the lessons are very denomination-neutral. So much of the other curriculum out there, that I have seen, is for towing the denomination line. The "activities" at the end of each lesson seem to be geared more for a teen-age class, but the lessons themselves have real meat to them. Overall, very good... |
