 Waiting for Columbus $24.98 WAITING FOR COLUMBUS was a great live album by Little Feat in its original incarnation, but now that it's been remastered and expanded to two CDs, it's even better. The songs are loose yet funky, conjuring up the feel of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, despite the fact that only two members of the band (bassist Kenny Gradney and percussionist Sam Clayton) are from there (the rest are from California). If the Meters jammed with any 70s Allman Brothers Band lineup, this 2-CD set sounds like what would be the result of such a summit. Many of the songs that found favor on FM rock radio in their shorter studio versions are stretched out and taken to new explorative heights here, resulting in a scintillating experience that, sadly, would never be recaptured once Lowell George, the band's leader, died a year later. However, we still have this album to remember, so get it if you can.
