I love this musical version of Cinderella no matter who is performing, but this one is perfection. I appreciate the multicultural, multiracial casting and the strong voices of all of the performers. it is the classic tale, but with a spin that makes it more contemporary and interesting.

I chose this book for my granddaughter based on other reviews because it was said to be a translation of the original story that was written by a French author. The illustrations are excellent except for one thing - Cinderella does not look "one thousand times more beautiful" than her ugly stepsisters in the illustrations. Might this teach a young girl that beauty may lie in what one wears? Although the story contained a few words (such as "wicked") I had to explain to my four year old granddaughter, she told me she liked it.

I have to say that in spite of my low opinion, my 3-year-old LOVES this toy. But if you don't want to hear "Mommy, can you help me put on Cinderella's dress" every two minutes, buy another toy. These rubber gowns are SO hard to put on, even for my husband and me. And the gloves are a joke - they don't get past her wrists (which upsets my daughter - she thinks we're not trying hard enough), and the teeny tiny itsy bitsy eensy weensy shoes only stay on occasionally, because of the tackiness of the plastic, not because they're actually designed to fit the doll's foot. Like I said, my daughter loves this toy, but she can't play with it independently. This is my first introduction to "polly pocket" style toys, and I have to say, I'm not looking forward to the next few years of this!

I got the video very quick within 2-3 days so that part is great. However, the cover of the CD case looks kinda phony for a Platinum edition so I don't know if it's an original CD or a copy. Compare to my other Disney CDs I get, the quality is a bit off.
