![]() Chris Elliott: Action Family & FDR: A One-Man Show [VHS] $9.95 Not much to say except don't operate heavy machinery while watching "FDR, a One-Man Show." You'll not be able to concentrate through the laughter. "Action Family" is amusing, too, but "FDR" is inspired. ![]() Into Hot Air: Another "Novel" by Chris Elliott $23.95 I've been a fan of Chris Elliot since his show "Get a Life" was on TV so I was excited to see he had written a book since Daddy's Boy. (I missed the release of Shroud of the Twacker) Daddy's Boy was funny. Into Hot Air is not. Not in the least. The nonsense that I loved in Get a Life comes off as being forced and completely unfunny in this book. This book is embarrassing for everyone involved including the reader. Poor Chris. What was he thinking? ![]() Shroud of the Thwacker, The $13.95 Chris Elliott writes very much in the style of Dave Barry, which is a good or bad thing depending on your opinion of Dave Barry. Since both authors are basically making jokes and puns for the sake of making jokes and puns, the humor comes over as being very forced after more than a few pages where the aim is to get as many jokes into as many sentences as possible. The plot, such as it is, was an interesting framework to base the buffoonery on, and there were some definite funny ideas, such as the NCNYPD - Nineteenth Century NY Police Department - and the wooden oil-fired mobile phones. A certain, decent percentage of the time, Elliott can make you laugh. Not every joke is telegraphed, and he can be genuinely amusing. But this is a 350 page novel, and the relentless barrage means there will inevitably be misses, and the whole enterprise becomes tiresome way before the end. Recommended only for Elliott fans or those who love zany, virtually non-stop humor. ![]() Dance Flick $14.99 This was some kind of flick that will have you laughing till you drop. That scene with the pregnant woman and then the baby comes out like he or she had it all going on. Wow! love the trailer, cannot wait to see the movie. |
