![]() Children of Men [Blu-ray] $21.95 This is the stupidest movie I have ever seen! I sent back the disk and demanded my money back. ![]() You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown $19.98 I love this so much more than Snoopy the Musical and more than the Broadway version. The last song in Snoopy the Musical Just One Person always makes me sad but in this special the last song Happiness always makes me happy. I love the songs but I only wish I could find the music for the TV special and not the Broadway version. My favorite is the Home on the Range song when everyone is yelling at each other it's so funny to watch. I think Robert Towers does a great Snoopy voice. Great special and I really enjoy it. I have it on video but it's not a good picture. I can't wait to get in on DVD 1/26/10. ![]() Man Woman & Child $9.95 This movie goes back many years but still manages to hold together in content and emotional tugging of the heart. Relationship movies are always interesting to me and this is no exception. Martin Sheen gives a marvelous performance as a man who's past suddenly catches up with him. The turmoil that this long-married couple must endure takes the viewer through a realistic situation that could happen to anyone; and probably has to many. The ending is both heartbreaking and uplifting and I think this movie should have done much better than it did when released. Watch it some day and you will see. ![]() Children of Men [Blu-ray] $29.98 Monday afternoon I had one of those rare movie-watching experiences: a film I'd never heard of that absolutely amazed me. In fact, CHILDREN OF MEN (Japan/USA/UK-2006) is EASILY the best motion picture I've seen this year. I'm not much of a sci-fi fan and had my doubts, especially during the story's first half-hour, but what came later was so mind-bogglling, so unique, that I won't dare ruin it for anyone who hasn't yet seen this superb work. It's set in the dystopian world of 2027. The last child to be born was 18 years earlier and no one knows why women can no longer conceive, thus the human race is on the brink of extinction through natural attrition. Theo (Clive Owen) is hired to escort an illegal to England's coast. Against all odds, the African-born Kee (Clare-Hope Ashtey) is eight-months pregnant, which makes her the hope of our entire planet. There are some who wish to exploit Kee and others want her dead. Theo and a handful of friends, including eccentric hippe Jasper (Michael Caine) and Theo's ex, Julian (Julianne Moore), are her only chance for escape and safety. Once the pursuit begins you will witness things you've never seen before, including one inspiring moment in the midst of total chaotic war. WHAT a movie! I just now bought a copy for my home library. |
