The Catch: One Play, Two Dynasties, and the Game That Changed the NFL $26.00 As a Dallas Cowboys fan I couldn't help but want to read this book despite grinding my teeth knowing I would have to re-live "the catch" all over again. Still, the book is a quick and fun read and the players who were there at the time are interviewed about what happened and what led up to the meeting between these two great teams. I enjoyed the book though I thought it was a bit long. Admittedly, it is one play in one game, but I"m not sure the NFL really changed because of the catch. Bill Walsh (is he really a genius? Read the book) and the 49ers were a great team led by a great QB and the Cowboys were a team that was in transition. Maybe this game sped up the Cowboys transition to the need to re-build. Myers does a good job in the book and it is a book that NFL fans will enjoy. Four stars. I can't give it five stars because I thought the book was a bit long for what it encompasses. |
