Behind The Scenes: Lords Of Dogtown
Behind The Scenes: Lords Of Dogtown

$19.95
Behind the Scenes: Lords of Dogtown takes readers deep inside the making of this summer¡Çs hotly anticipated film, Lords of Dogtown, starring Emile Hirsch, Victor Rasuk, John Robinson, and Heath Ledger. Set in the 1970s, the film tells the story of a group of teenage surfers from a neighborhood known as "Dogtown" in Venice, California. The "Z-Boys," known for their fearless surfing style, took the death-defying moves they¡Çd perfected on the water to the streets ? and in the process inventing the extreme skateboarding style they became famous for. In creating this book, director Catherine Hardwicke worked closely with the cast and crew to provide as detailed a view of the making of the movie as possible. The result is a book that truly captures the energy of the set. It¡Çs filled with hundreds of amazing, never-before-seen photographs, and is packed with quick, easy-to-read information on everything from the story, to the actors, to the stunts featured in the film. The book¡Çs overall look ? with graffiti-like graphics and wild spreads will truly appeal not only to those who love the movie, but to anyone with even a passing interest in skateboarding or graphic design.

I read the book, and was so looking forward to watching the movie, only to be disappointed. The characters were well represented, but the movie only followed the bare bones of the book, and poorly I might add. It was like they put the book in a blender and then randomly pieced it back together. Much of the depth in the book was not there, horrible dialogue which only skimmed the surface of what each character was really like in the book. Also, they not only left much of the book out, they also fit in details randomly; not how and when they actually took place in the book. Many of the scenes were not even portrayed as they were in the book, especially the most important scene when Bella tries to meet the enemy on her own. It was completely redone!! Why?? I just don't understand how they can take such a wonderful story and turn it into a one star film. It was like watching one long trailer. Anyway, I look forward to reading the next book, but I don't think I will waste my time or money on seeing New Moon.

Thirteen (2003) [VHS]

$9.98
The movie Thirteen is an extremely well done look into the perspective of an out of control, average American teenager who once was good and had a conscious but was quickly replaced by drugs, and poor choices. While there are some seemingly unimportant and questionable scenes such as the last shot in the end, the movie doesn't disappoint to preview a simple way of "getting caught up" in peer pressure. Recommend it for people of 17+ to fully understand the concepts with little misinterpretations.
