Catherine Deneuve Collection (Manon 70 / Le sauvage / Htel des amriques / Le choc / Fort Saganne) $39.98 FORT SAGANNE is a long, grand epic which must be seen in widescreen. It's really a Gerard Depardieu movie and he is magnificent as a legionnaire in French-occupied Sahara. LE SAUVAGE is a romantic comedy which is one of my favorite Deveuve films. Catherine Deneuve necessarily enters runaway Yves Montand's placid life and wreaks havoc. Chemistry again in LE CHOC with Alain Delon as a professional hitman who meets Deneuve when he is hiding out. I had not seen HOTEL DES AMERIQUES before. While I still enjoyed this drama, I could not eventually understand the stubborn fascination of the Deneuve character with Patrick Dewaere (who died tragically young in real life). In MANON 70, Deneuve cannot commit to any one man till she meets Sami Frey, then . . . Here's hoping Lionsgate produces and releases a collection of films starring another French legend - Michele Morgan.  Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Dangerous Liaisons) (200-Minute Version in French) $19.95 Enjoyed immensely. Had seen the versions with Glenn Close, Jean Morreau and Annette Bening, as well as the opera composed by Conrad Suza and performed at the San Francisco Opera with Frederica von Stade. It is interesting how well all versions were adapted to the original. I even saw the play in London and recently in New York. I feel the lead roles are truly villainous.....and I love seeing revenge take its course when the bad person gets it in the end. This plot is great fun. I feign from seeing the US teen versions Cruel Intentions which number three movies, but I may give in someday and watch them.  Souviens: Toi de M'Oublier $11.98 I LOVE CATHERINE DENEUVE, HOWEVER, THIS IS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE A SWORN LOVE FOR DISCO. THE SOUND IS VERY EURO POP AND AT THE HEIGHT OF DISCO IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED NOT SO GREAT THEN. LET'S GIVE CREDIT TO MS. DENEUVE FOR BRANCHING OUT AND TRYING SOMETHING NEW. GOD BLESS HER. MAYBE, IF IT WAS SUPER DUBBED AND SHE HAD A USA DISCO WIZARD TO HELP HER, THINGS WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT. INSTEAD MADONNA TOOK THAT PATH AND LOOK WHAT IT'S DONE FOR HER.
