I love it! ![]() Never Romance a Rake (Thorndike Press Large Print Core Series) $31.95 I am a Liz Carlyle fan...and have saved books of hers that I loved. I was looking forward to the story of Lord Rothwell....after reading this book I am so disappointed in Liz......there was no character development, no real story to interest one in the characters....it was .... like, soft porn...as if those scenes were written first and a plot written around them. When you look back at the stories in this series...they were just that, great stories...interesting people. Has Ms. Carlyle lost her mojo? ![]() A Carlyle Reader $19.95 A Carlyle Reader constitutes the most substantial one-volume presentation of representative writings of the great Victorian prose writer, historian, philosopher and social critic-Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881). It contains the full text of Carlyle's seminal work Sartor Resartus as well as the full text of five of his most influential essays. It also offers general selections from The French Revolution, Past and Present, On Heroes and Hero Worship, and the celebrated Coleridge chapter from The Life of John Sterling. In addition to offering a rich sampling of Carlyle in all his various literary manifestations, this volume enables the the reder to study Carlyle chronologically, the first entry being from 1823 and the last from 1876. The almost forty pages of introductory material provide a biographical overview of Carlyle's life, a presentation of his leading ideas and a discussion of his unique prose style. There is a bibliography of secondary writings and a chronology of Carlyle's life. Every section is preceded by an explanatory introduction by the editor. ![]() Wicked All Day $7.99 I have read all of the authors books... i was actually anticipating "zoe's" story. In other books she was an upbeat vivacious character. I expected her story to be more fulfilling. I was sorely disappointed in the "hero" he was just a brooding ass. Not to mention his brother was a self-absorbed ass. The secondary characters had more substance than the main characters. the only reason i gave it two stars was because of the secondary characters. I tried my best to get into it, tried to even find parts i liked. Again, i was bored and sorely disappointed... it seems rushed to meet a deadline. All i can say is i hope the next book is better Mrs. Carlyle! |
