![]() The Demon $9.98 Just stumbled across this flick in a cheap 3-disk horror collection, and was startled to find that I remembered the ending being one of the first scenes in a horror movie I'd ever seen (snuck in when mum was watching heh!) Nostalgic qualities aside, The Demon was actually quite enjoyable. NO, you will not find FAST-PACED NON-STOP SLASHING AND BUCKETS OF BLOOD!!!!! (Haw!)...the one element I like most about effective 70's horror films is the RESTRAINT applied; music and lighting and ATMOSPHERE provide the chills, and the internal weakness of the protagonists' characters are made to be just as frightening (and aggravating!) as the killer himself. It can't be passed off as just another Halloween knock-off; white-faced killer aside, the story has little else borrowed from said horror classic. Yes, the print is murky, but you sad young ones who don't remember VHS have just been spoiled! Old films (grainy as they may be) have a certain charm that only TRUE horror fans and romantics can enjoy; they can frighten us decades after their own relevance because we can remember those days or have the imagination to put ourselves in that position, and don't rely on $2 Million dollars worth of SpFX to get a good jolt! ![]() 1949 Movie Ad, M-G-M brings to the screen Broadway's famed Stage play! FUNNY TO ROCK OUT TO A SHOW SOUNDTRACK... THAT WAS A FIRST. BUT YOU CAN'T HELP YOURSELF. I PREFER THIS TO THE FILM SOUNDTRACK FOR NO OTHER REASON THAN IT HAS A RAW EDGE TO IT UNLIKE THE SLICK STUDIO TRACKS OF THE OTHER. ![]() Last Of The Vikings $9.99 Closely follows the story of the late 1950's Kirk Douglas movie "The Vikings". Looks like it was recorded with a 1st generation camcorder from my grandma's 12" basement TV. Fun to collect for us "must have all things viking" fans, but this story was done profoundly better by the Kirk Douglas film's superior sets and Norwegian cinematography. };>{>The Vikings |
