JavaScript Essential Training
JavaScript Essential Training

$99.95
The author needs to use some professional looking slides.
She is explaining using a text editor (and the html page for the scripts) during the entire training session. It's like a college lecture half century ago. If you are lecturing Latin grammar using this method this may be OK (but I'm sure that even many modern Latin teachers will use nice PowerPoint slides). It's irony that she uses an outdated teaching method in teaching modern technology. I was going to give only 1 star, but if you stick to (or should I say, endure) her lecture, at least she makes sense. If she adds well-organized presentation slides in her future version, the rate could be four or five stars (depending on the quality of the slides). $20-$30 would have been the right price. For $100, I don't think that it's worth. I think that a well-written book is much better. Not recommended for 2007 version.

Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 Upgrade Win/Mac [Old Version]
Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 Upgrade Win/Mac [Old Version]

$199.00
This version of Dreamweaver appears to be as solid as ever. I have used it for over a month now and have found no issues with it. And a big plus is that it is working well on my Vista system. It fixed several issues I was having with an earliler version. I currently have it on both and XP Pro and a Vista system, and both are behaving. It also seems to be more complient with current coding practices. Some of the changes to the interface will take a little getting used to, but all in all for those who have Dreamweaver, it's a good buy. Especially if you have had to go to Vista.

Developing Large Web Applications: Producing Code That Can Grow and Thrive

$34.99
As web applications get more complex, so do the challenges. These applications need to meet demanding performance requirements, and be reliable 24/7, without exception. And they also need to withstand frequent modifications by many different programmers. If you're building a mission-critical site, this book will help you achieve the same rigor in web application development that has traditionally applied to other types of software.

Written by a manager at Yahoo! with substantial experience working with the techniques presented in this book, Developing Large Web Applications provides practical steps for building sites that remain effective as you add features, functions, and users. Avoid common coding and maintenance headaches when small websites evolve, adding more pages, more code, and more programmers Embrace the virtues of modularity, encapsulation, abstraction, and loosely coupled components Get comprehensive coverage of issues involving HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript and Ajax, and database interaction Learn solid techniques in code management and software engineering that are often unknown or forgotten by web developers
