The ending of the movie made it all worthwhile for me. I am a big James Woods fan so always enjoy him.

My husband was kind of bored with the book but I guess if you are a cop you have heard it all anyway. For everyone else, they may get a kick out of it...

This movie got picked out as a `family' movie. That is totally ridicules, since it is NOT appropriate for children and torturously boring for anyone else.
Why it's boring; there really aren't any laughs other than what you see on the commercials, apart from a few dirty jokes (more on that later). They tried to make it an action movie and a `heartwarming' one at the same time as comedy. So there was lots of bad, unrealistic stunts and lots of time spent on Paul staring at his love interest, but too shy to talk to her, or spending time with his mother and daughter. The camera shots were held way too long, if they'd been shorter the movie could have been half it's length, and there were these really weird slow motion sequences that just focused on difference people - not doing anything funny, just existing in what I guess was supposed to be an important scene.
Now why I cringe at the thought of children seeing this; Paul has this cell phone that belonged to a teenage girl - he gets calls from her boyfriend, who is often shown talking on the phone without many clothes on, and talks in a suggestive way. At the end of the film Paul gives his girlfriend a card saying basically that being with her is better than eating, because he doesn't have to unzip his pants. Not exact quote, but as close as I could come. There is also a scene in a lingerie shop where an overweight woman is shown with her shirt almost off and bra revealed. What's so funny about a woman, overweight or not, being made fun of in a sexual way? I may not name many warnings for parents, but these scenes were just so obnoxious - not funny, they were just embarrassing. I know a lot of parents probably weren't bothered by this movie - but I also think every parent has a right to be warned, and I know a lot of parents don't want their kids seeing this sort of movie.
This isn't even a good movie for making fun of. I tried once.
